Windows won't properly reconize my digital camera? |
i have windows xp and my computer will only reconize my digital camera as a disk drive. I have installed the drivers that came with the camera. it is a kodak cx7310 digital camera. problem is i have to click though folders to see my pics and i cant use advanced camera features i.e veiw pics without going though the folders, check approx numer of pics left check battery life ect. is there any way to get windows to reconize my camera as a camera so it will show up in the camera section of the control panel. this would make it easier to use. it would be nice if i could still access it as a drive also, so that i can put files on it. Kodak changes drivers for their cameras faster than a debutante changes outfits. >;-/ IIRC, the cx7300 is a few years old, so if you're installing a driver from a Kodak camera CD that's more than 6 months old it's probably outdated, based on my experience. Go to Kodak's WWW site and download the latest software for your camera. If you don't have it, seek out a broadband connection - drivers tend to get large enough to demand a fast connection. I had a similar problem but I resolved it by installing service pack 2 from Microsoft. many cameras have outdated drivers. Contact both Kodak and the vendor that sold you the camera to find out which driver you have versus which one you need. Hope it helps. If the drivers are outdated, you might be able to find the latest ones from the Kodak support web page. They normally post them there for download. |
