Can any memory card, battery, etc. work with Sony Digital Cameras? |
I'm buying a sony digital camera soon, and I just want to know if they can take any other brand [you know, sandisk and stuff like that] memory cards. I'm not sure if the sony products are ONLY compatible with sony accessories. I have a sony digital camera and they are fully compatible with sandisk and lexar memory sticks - as long as you get the right type. You can get other batteries but are often not as good - I have a Hahnel one as a back up but always use the main sony one first as it has a better life. No! No, Sony can only use memory stick or memory stick pro cards..... As far as memory cards go most Sony cameras will only take any brand of Memorey Stick media. Some high end cameras may offer Compact Flash but only a few do. As far as batteries go these days they use special rechargeable batteries just for your camera and typically need to be replaced by Sony. Unless your camera takes AA's in which case you can buy whatever you want. Sony cameras only use Memory Stick, so that's the only type of card you can use (and initially it was the only brand you could buy). Much to Sony's delight. You need to double check with the particular model camera you will be purchasing, but many of Sony's digital cameras (the point & shoot models) uses AA batteries. If that is the case with the one you are buying, any AA batteries will work.....lithiums, alkalines, NiMH rechargeables. |
