What are the affects of using alkaline batteries in a digital camera?

I heard that if you use regular alkaline batteries instead of oxy alkaline it could damage a digital camera. What damage can it cause?

A rip in the space time continuum?

More likely you will feel as if there is a gaping hole in your wallet as standard alkaline batteries do not last long when used in a digital camera. Go for the lithium batteries. More expensive to purchase but last much longer.

diabetes??

it would work.

If the bateries are new, they will power your camera until the power runs out...what's the deal, did you think you couldn't use them? What you heard is totally bogus. I have used both and also rechargeables. Someone was misinformed.

They not rechargeable, but, they will work. I have used Heavy Duty Batteries, but, they not last as long.

It is a stronger battery and will take many more pictures, or at least it is suppose to. But in my opinion, it doesn't seem like it lasts any longer. One affect is that your pocketbook has to spend more money for those kind.

they just dont last very long, like maybe a few hours, so it is just a waste of money in the long run, you should invest in proper camera batteries and they will last much much longer

Doesn't matter until they are good. Will work fine. But in alkaline batteries, there is always chance there to be leak. after drying out it use to puff up then becomes leak and if leak then will release some toxic and acetic chemical will damage body, contacts, small component and plastic circuitry and all blah blah blah..

due to the power required of a digital cameras CCD, the Charged Coupling Device, (that's the doohickey that actually captures the image, digtial "film") and the processors to createa nd store the images normal alkeline batters will work but not for long depending on your camera. The Nickel Hydrade batteries and such like lithium are designed to hold a charge better and longer that's why they suggest them. That and it takes a LOOONG time for them to corrode and trash your cameras inner workings. That is really the only other down fall of the normal alk batteries. If you use them make sure if your camera is going to sit a while take the batteries out. I always keep a supply of alk batteries for that emergency use if my others go dead but as soon as I am done I take them out. If you're shooting a DSLR, I would invest in a t least 3-4 batteries and take 3-4 fully charged abtteries when you shoot. This will help you in the long run. happy shooting!
