They range from 3-12MP and all are very user friendly and seem to take a bit of abuse.
I'm not quite sure about your question with regards to the batteries, but all digital cameras require batteries.
A good middle of the road Kodak model would be the Kodak Easyshare C743 Digital Camera and Easyshare G600 Photo Printer Digital Bundle. Tiger Direct has the bundle priced at $292.99 (Canadian$) not really in touch with consumer gear but i did sell kodak a few years ago and they are not great! they do the docking station.
Quality to me means Leica, try the camera makers like Nikon,Canon etc
