When I turn on my Kodak v603 digital camera it quickly turns off, i just bought a new $30 dollar battery.?

does anyone know why this is?

In addition to what Silk24 said about the "Power Save" settings which will cause the camera to turn off after a period of time, the part that tipped me was that it "...quickly turns off"

With power save mode, you WILL be able to take pictures before the camera shuts down. If the camera turns off BEFORE you can take a shot, it's a battery OR camera problem. Now provided the camera worked with it's old battery and hasn't been abused (dropped, submerged, etc) try usin the old battery once again. If it works ok with the old battery, your new one is at fault.

That said, did you *charge* the NEW batter for 24hours the FIRST night so that it can properly initialize? If you did and the camera still will not allow you to take a picture, your battery is no good. At only $30 could your new battery be an eBay special

There could be a virus on the Digicam...
Or... the batteries just don't work on DigiCams...
I suggest that you buy Rechargable batteries.. This fixed my problem~

Try using Durcell or energizer.

Look at your settings. The camera can be set from 1min. to 5, or 30. What this does is it turns off the camera to save your battery. Your best bet is to get a battery charger. Walmart has a high priced Kodak charger or you can get the 2hr w/AC/DC capability Fast Charger for digital Jamar's, cell phones, remotes. plus you get a car charger and eight batteries for $16.00 Bucks.
Which you would have to buy all these separate.
