Is it bad to leave rechargeable batteries constantly charging? |
Like for a digital camera. The good chargers turn off after the battery is charged. Over charging batteries can cause the to heat up to temperatures that can not only damage the battery, but in some cases cause fires. depends on the chemical. for NiMH, NiCd, yes. for Li-ion, technically no because it's the heat that kills, not the charge yes,it may cause the battery to lose it's ability to keep charge.it's better to charge li ion batteries when they are completely empty and unplug them as soon as battery full sign appears. |
