Is it possible to actually black out the whole Vegas?

like in the Ocean Eleven. Chaos'd erupt, everybody stealing robbing chips! and plus cameras will be off.

i know they probably have backup battery or something that will turn on in a second if it happens, but there got to be something that i can trigger and make them inoperable.

and yes.. i do worship choas in this case. lol

I operate a power plant in North Las Vegas. While it is possible for "the grid" to blackout and put most of Vegas dark (Northwest US 1996, Northeast US & Ontario 2003, Florida 2008) the casinos do have backup power sources, the Rio being the most modern of them. However, as the Bellagio found out in 2004 there are circumstances that will cause all of the power in the hotel and casino to go out without the ability to provide backup power.

Regulations are making the grid more reliable and less susceptible to the potential of a blackout, or limiting blackouts.

I was at the Primadonna in Primm in 2005 when power was lost. The only lighting on the casino floor was the Exit signs. Power was out for 5 minutes before power was restored, and it wasn't backup power.

EMP is a possibility but keep in mind that Las Vegas was very near the above ground nuclear testing of the 1950s and, even though there weren't as many people or as large of a power system there were no power outages due to EMP.

In regards to using an EMP. I think the only thing capable of making a strong enough EMP blast to knock out all the cameras and power would be an actual atomic bomb..but then you gotta worry about everybody dying in addition to the nuclear fall out.

Anyway all casinos have back up generators and etc...so yes the would have their systems running up in literally seconds. and all the guards at the doors would quickly keep everybody inside to prevent chaos and people running out with chips and etc.

So is the chaos possible...maybe..for a split second..but it'd be contained and controlled so fast it would not be worth it...given how much money it would cost to try and bribe people to shut down all the electricity in Las Vegas...just impossible then at that point. not to mention IF the power did go off in Vegas..again it'd only be off for seconds...people wouldn't go nuts and try to steal everything. okay maybe a few would, but they'd be handled..REAL QUICKLY.

The lights went out in the Casino that i work in, a few weeks back. But before anyone noticed that the lights had gone out, they were all back on. Any way Security was so quick at, dropping what they were doing and rushing to the areas that needed guarding, it would have been hard to try to pull a fast one. This isn't Hollywood babe.................

All casinos are equipped with plenty of generators, so there would never be a total blackout.

NO Each casino has its own backup system as do hospital, etc. But the entire city, get real.

That is a movie, not reality.

Never. All the casinos have back up lights in the casinos. As for the chaos, well we always have that!

It has happened to portions of the strip.
Just 2 weeks ago the Excalibur, Luxor and the Mandalay Bay all blacked out for few hours.
