Blackberry Pearl: Freezing, Skipping,?

I got a Pearl for Christmas and by February I was having troubles. My phone does 4 (abnormal) things:

1) Freezes randomly when I try to a) open applications like my camera or my address book and b) when I send or delete texts.
2) The red 'alert' light is always on, even at full battery.
3) The roller ball sometimes doesnt roll, or I can only scroll in one direction.
4) When I play brick breaker the game will skip and the ball will change location without notice (not a big deal)

I have a memory card and I delete texts and emails often. I do not have many pictures either, about 10. I have removed the battery both when the phone is on and off, all that happens is the phone takes a long time to turn on again. I only charge my phone when it gets low (around 20%), and it is in a protective case. I have never dropped it or gotten it wet, and I routinely check for dust.

Its my last resort to go to the cell store since its always a nightmare!

Any helpful ideas are welcome!

This may be obvious and you may have already tried this BUT... Take out your battery and SIM card. Leave it out for 5 seconds or so. Now put everything back together. This is a simple manual reset. I work in sales for Rogers and alot of the time this little trick fixes the problem.

If not, it sounds like you got a bunk phone. I would contact your customer service line and get them to direct you to data technical support. In Canada, Blackberry has a GREAT warranty. If they cant fix your blackberry over the phone, they will mail you a new one. I cant guarantee this is the same warranty in your area. But you can try for that. At the VERY least, your warranty will allow you to send your phone out for repair at no cost.
