Digital camera won't turn on with fresh batteries? |
My daughter has a digital camera that is about four months old. whenever she puts in new batteries now, it won't turn on. The light at the top of the camera flashes like it's going to turn on, but it doesn't. We've tried three different types of the same battery with the same non-result. I havn't been able to reach a human at the company that made the camera. What is likely happening? eTry plugging the camera in to the computer with the new batteries installed and see what it does. Are you still using alkaline batteries? If so, alkaline batteries just don't have the power for more than a few pics in a digital camera. Some may even have problems just powering startup of the camera. Digital cameras for the most part should only be used with rechargeable NiMH batteries. Walmart sells these for around $7 for a package of four (about $15-19 for the batteries with charger). Keep in mind they'll save you big bucks in the long run over alkalines, AND they'll last for at least 100 pictures per charge (and probably many many more). You'll be very pleased with their performance, and may slap yourself for not buying them sooner. When at the store, look on the package for a power rating of at least 2500 mah. Check with the manufacturer support site for your camera. Peruse the FAQ's section. It may not have anything to do with the batteries!! It could be dirty contacts in the battery compartment. However, I suspect that the lens may be stuck. |
