Photos become white/overexposed because of new battery?

I bought a new battery for my digital camera and all the photos it produced now is all white, as if it is overexposed. I noticed now that the ampere of the battery is slightly different. Can this cause the problem? Also is it damaging to the camera if the current of the battery is different?
I couldnt Google this problem out. So many thanks for any help.

As long as the battery voltage is the same, no problems. As the previous poster stated, larger ampere hour (Ah) rating means the battery will last longer.

As to your overexposed photos, there are a few things that can cause this.

1. EV compensation was set to something other than zero. Check your manual on how to set the EV (exposure value) compensation. Before fooling with the EV compensation, read the next point...

2. Your camera mode is set to something other than auto (selector normally on the top of the camera). In auto mode, the EV compensation is usually disabled. The EV compensation control will usually affect any of the other modes like program, aperture, shutter, and manual.

Yes it could damage the circuits in your camera. Take it out and replace it with the correct one, maybe it will be OK

If your battery is the correct voltage then it is good. A higher amp-hour or milliamp-hour rating simply means that it will last longer before you have to replace it.

Make sure that you did not inadvertently switch to an exposure compensation mode.
