An associate at a camera shop opened my camera's battery compartment and deleted my pictures, what can I do?

She had already told me she could not help me, and refered me to customer service 877#. She had no reason to open the compartment, she was simply fiddling. Because of the incident the camera has been removed from stores across the country to be repackaged with a warning not to open the battery compartment are the pics will be deleted, but I am still out my pictures.

Just so you understand, the camera stores pictures on its internal hard drive, and the camera shop was not aware of it, so they have pulled the camera from their stores across the country to repackage them with a warning, not to the consumer, because we know better, but to their employees.

Are the pictures stored on a removable medium, like a memory card or stick? Or are they in the camera's memory. If they're on a removable medium, then they should still be okay. If they're on the camera, I'm not sure if there's anything that will bring them back. Next time, be sure to download your pictures to a computer or other storage device before taking your camera in for servicing.

What camera is this you are talking about ... ?

I have been using digtial cameras for over eleven years and opening a digital cameras battery compartment does not delete the images ... if that was true, we could never charge our batteries or change them.

The memory in digital camera is called flash memory and does not need a charge too keep the files ... unlike RAM on a computer. I have some CF cards in an evidence bag, in a safe. The images on them are still viable ... after nearly two years.

hmm. not sure if this would help you but i was JUST NOW wasting time looking at this article, before i came to Yahoo answers to waste time. haha.. worth a look.

Maybe there's a light leak from the battery compartment?

(It's a joke. I see the word deleted)

Why did you leave a memory card with pictures in there without saving them off first?
