I just got a Sony DCR-TRV280 Digital 8 camcorder. How can I put my Digital 8 movies on my Vista computer?

I have a ton of D8 home movies and my old camcorder broke. bought this(not because I wanted it) but because I saw the need to put all my old D8 movies on DVD. But after spending the money, I can't get my computer to recognize my camera. Trying to use a USB cable. Heard of the ILink, but I don't even know if my computer supports it. I have a very new Toshiba Satellite laptop. Can I get a driver or use the ILink. Please help so I know I just didn't waste $250.

You need to use the iLink port (as known as firewire, DV, IEEE1394) - you can get a firewire/PC card adapter for your laptop - like one of these:
