I would like to take a decent picture but mine always look like the worst drivers license photos. Help I don't want to run from the camera all the time. Any pointers would be good When I take pictures of people, I act as if I am just making adjustments to the camera white chit chatting. I snap sevral photos during this period and never tell them until I have desired results. Many people seem ackwar when they know the cmera is coming. People tense up and show no expression or a provoked expression that doesn't read well to anyone. Every shot i took of people have been mid sentance or doing something. There is a beauty in natural expressions. If your taking pictures of your self I suppose it depends on the setting and context of what is going on. I have took pictures of myself I was satisfied with. I have got more comfortable with taking pictures of myself and when you get to that point most images will be acceptable. However, if you continue to feel uncomfortable try differnt things like being focus on something else or if you have a timer hit the timer and do or read something that holds true interest. I hope this helps if not tell someone to take your pictures all day ready or not than go through and pick what you like. Some people can have a stigma and not like any self photos, if that is the case let others choose what is most apealing. a point and shoot, you really have to fart with it a lot to get the lighting just right.
DSLR, on the other hand i find natural lighting works wonders. Some times I use the flash and most times I turn it off.
