I posed this question a few days ago but did not get the help I sought: I am asking this question as a single parent of 2 kids, not a lot of money, and hoping to work with my existing equipment!
Links to microsoft and dell DO NOT HELP - they do not list a driver for the floppy.
i bought refurbished with a fresh XP load - removed the cd and inserted the dell floppy drive module it came with - after reading it for what seems like 5 minutes it asks to format it or says there is no driver. i don't want to format it, i want to open it with photoshop but it won't let me. can anyone tell me why? i am using a memory card inside a floppy disk adaptor from my Sony Mavica FD-95 digital camera. worked fine on old, old, computer - so can anyone help me locate a driver for this floppy or what? :) Merci. FRIME - i did what you said, all went as you said, but when i inserted adaptor with memory card in it, it still asked to format it. why won't it just read it? if i format it, all the pics on card will be lost... :( should i just rework my finances and buy a usb card reader? i really don't have the money ... :( yep, i understand what you mean. lucky you have Windows XP installed, so it's pretty easy.
what you need is a driver for this special memory card adapter (called SmartMedia or Flashpath). go to the following site and download this .exe file (FPSM_v36008____.exe, click below on the link "free driver download ..... Windows 2000/XP" and wait until the download window pops up - it goes a while) to any directory (best is to make a new directory named "SmartMedia Driver"). when download is finished go in that directory and double click this .exe file. follow the instructions on screen.
here's the site

good luck any disk or floppy has to be formatted so the puter can read it. not sure i understand the question. |
