How are young women and newcomers so comfortable performing in porn?

These women, the young women especially, 18+, whomever they are, whether none of you know them personally, whether their your daughters or neighbors. Young women have a hard time performing on a drivers test, or doing a presentation in class, or reciting a customer welcome at a new job. How are they able to be so professional in something as unsettling as a porn set for the first few times ?Where they are having sex with a man or men they've never met before, in front of about 5-7 other people and 1-3 cameras. Where a director they don't know basically gives them a run through of the scene, and then its go time. He turns the camera on and starts asking her obscene questions, giving obscene instructions while the other actors in the scene are playing out his directions on her body in a way she's never had done before. How do these young women perform so comfortably on screen and look so natural doing it?

Especially when- according to many- she's thinking simply about getting the money and getting out losing as much recollection of the events as possible. She's thinking about her parents, and friends, and who may see. She's thinking about her own integrity and self worth, and what she's come to in life. She's thinking about the future and how long she plans on doing this. She's thinking about the event it self, and how it'll go. How do they possibly create an enjoyable scene with all those thoughts in mind?

most people in the porn industry have psychological problems, as in no self confidence or feeling of self worth.

All of the money they are offered helps them overcome almost anything.

That can't be answered honestly by anybody but the people who have done it. Most of these women are not "new" to this. Even if it says first time on the box. It's not.

Personally i think it would be exciting to do it once or twice. Not as a career but to try out.

Just because the porn film tells you they are "newcomers" or "amateurs" doesn't mean they are.

Maybe they're just good actresses? I guess we have no idea how nervous they were the first time on set. Maybe they warm up first? Maybe there are lots of takes and do-overs (no pun intended!) We don't know!

Most were sexually abused as children. They have practice disassociating with the sex act. That is the only logical explanation.

I think what you're talking about is a lot more complicated than women feeling compelled by men, I think it's more likely to be caused by something more fundamental in the construction of western culture. ie: what it means to be a woman, or how to be a woman.

But either way it is just acting, I don't think it's anything to create a theory about, but hey, that's just me.

I'm sure most of those girls are given something to relax prior to filming, as opposed to a driving test, class presentation or welcoming a customer.

Just in case you didn't know, they shoot most porn on video now and can do as many takes as is necessary to get things right and then edit the best bits together. That's the technical point.

The other is, like Tracey wrote, that someone billed as 'newcomer' is only a newcomer if you willing to believe the line the producers are spinning you. Read the cover blurb on the backs of ten recently published books in any genre and they all have something along the lines of: 'Best book in years", "greatest of the last ten years", some of these written on different books by the same reviewer.
