Does anybody know why my SD card will not work in my laptop?

The SD card only says SD ELITE PRO 1GB 50x on the front label. I don't really know anything else about it because it was in a digital camera that somebody bought for me off of the internet. It didn't appear to have anything on it so I have used it in that camera several times, and it works fine in the camera, but the problem is that whenever I put it in the SD card slot on my computer, it recognizes that it is an SD card but appearantly, it cannot access it, because autoplay will come up and search for a few seconds, and then close. When I go into My Computer (I'm using XP), there is an icon for it (SD disk (E:)), but whenever I try to open it, it says that the disk is not formatted, and asks if I want to format it. If I say yes, then it takes a second and then says that it cannot be formatted. Why might that be? Do I need to find a different driver or something?

sounds like your memory card has corrupted/and or faulty in some way. It is unlikely that the card reader is damaged if it can detect the card. Try checking for any dust in the card reader and remove any if found on the metal. make sure you are not putting the card in the wrong slot. Maybe try using a software disk or drivers from the internet for your card reader.

i'd just get a new memory card, because this one sounds like it wont work.
theyre only cheap, so you might aswell.
