Should photo-radar cameras be permitted for ticketing drivers?

I am writing a position paper and am looking for peoples opinions on the topic. I am on the con side of the argument, but I am looking for opinions on both sides.

No, because occasional poor judgment types get lumped in with the chronic red-light runners. There's got to be provision for occasional lapses of judgment. Also it further contributes to Nanny Statism, which uses MY tax dollars to babysit me.

I cannot see why not. We have them here - in Norway, that is - and they do work. People don't speed on roads with cameras. Also, it's cheaper than having personnel out there all the time. There are people who say that it's like a surveillance of their private lives etc, which I find a very weak argument. I don't take my private life out on to the roads, lol. Of course, if you do like to drive fast, they're a nuisance, lol. That's the way it works. I'm all for them.

Yes. It shouldn't matter if the offense is on camera or a police officer see it, you still did it. The big arguement seems to be that they can't tell who's driving. If you let someone use your car and they run a light you should turn your friend in. If you don't then you deserve the fine for protecting them.

Here in Michigan you cannot get a ticket with a camera because a camera cannot testify in court.
