Sony Camcorder: TRV19E installation?

I have lost the installation CD (Pixela Imagemixer). Now, I tried using Sony's website and downloaded the driver for my camera. (I made sure USB was not connected at the time of installation) Now, when I connect the USB to my laptop, nothing happens. I tried many things including "Add new hardware", Windows Movie Maker, etc but no good.

I dun wanna buy image mixer. Do I have any other options ?

You do need a iLink or firewire cable and a firewire port on your PC. Go back to the Sony support site for further information & also visit your PC support site for further hardware information on firewire capability.

TRV19E, a miniDV vcam, must be FIREWIRE**-connected to pc to upload video thru video capture or video editing (VES)* software while vcam is on playback. Vcam-4pin->CABLE->Pc (4/ 6pin?). Before cable** purchase, note: DV or Firewire port of vcam is 4pin...check the firewire port of PC whether 4 or 6 pin. If none, procure firewire card: pci for pc or pcmia for laptop (Google).

video editing process:

1. Capture video stream** - editing software remotely controls vcam operations
2. Edit- drag/drop files->timeline & enhance w/effects, transition, music & titles
3. Finish (render)- save Movie file, also save Project*** file
4. Share-burn to CD (to DvD thru a DvD authoring app like DvD Flick, Nero, etc.)
