What do speed camera's take a picture of?

Do speed camera's take a picture of just the number plate or do they get a picture of the driver too? Please help :)

Depends if it is froward facing or rear facing

Incidentally, some people (not suggesting you) try to claim someone else was driving. They usually get caught out if their insurance doesn't show other drivers as being insured to drive.

It depends on if the camera is pointing away from the driver "Gatso" or towards the driver "Truvelo".
If it is a "Gatso" it takes pictures (2) from the rear, it includes the rear of the car,- (including any distinctive marks) and road markings to indicate the distance travelled between pix, giving speed.- distance x time = speed. The "Truvelo" takes pix from the front, giving clear pic of driver, make of car etc. With a "Gatso" it is possible to beat it provided your car is capable of over 176 mph lol . Top Gear etc

The speed cameras have a sensor on the front, if it catches you over the recorded speed limit it will take a picture of your number plate and send it to the nearest police station to the speed camera, the police will then send u a letter out asking you for your license so they can put three points on, if you ignore the letter they suspend your license.

they take a picture of the car and the driver - sometimes the sun light can reflect and block vision of driver. but anyway - if you've been flashed, you're speeding. if you're speeding, you should expect to get caught - enjoy the moment - their to save lives - wouldn't work if it didn't make people like you go 'arrgh, i'm in trouble, my job, my car, my licence, etc'. speed kills and all that - just cruise mate...

The older ones just focus on the number plate, but the more modern ones also get the driver, and, as a bonus to the authorities, your tax disc as well!!!!!

They will usually take a picture of the car traveling away from them - so maybe a sillouette nthing more (remember bikes only have number plates on the back)

i know someone who tried to claim a woman was driving,
but then they sent thru photo evidence and you could tell quite clearly it was a man.

just thenumber plate and back of car as camera,s are not allow to take front of car and driver in case the flash make them involed in a crash ...

just the back.... the whole car and surrounding environment.... they're only likely to take a front picture if your in the bus lane ... in a junction box, or ran a red traffic light

some get just the car # plate. but forward facing ones get the car plate and the driver.

number plate and the shape of your head. some can also tell if you are on a mobile.

No don't worry they don't get your face.

fixed speed cameras just take pics of plates.
