My mustang is injured, HELP!?

My car was involved in a hit and run last weekend, and the police found the driver, thank the lord for surveillance cameras, and the driver (who was drunk btw) has taken full responsibilty, and I am getting my car fixed by geico on Thursday.

Here is the issue:

The back end of my 2003 Mustang was hit, so the bumper has a huge dent, the light is cracked and the last 1/4 of my car has the paint stripped off, with minor dents. So my question is, when I take my poor car into the body shop to get fixed what questions should I ask to make sure that any under carriage (is that even car lingo?) doesn't have damage? What should I ask inorder to ensure that they will check every detail and replace those certain parts of my car? Is it possible that the axel has been thrown off?

Basically, Im a 23 year old girl with absolutley NO knowledge of cars and I don't want to be taken advantage of. Any advice would be great!...Thanks!

i can think of a couple things you should asked to be checked:

- Frame damage
- Damage to rear axle
- Damage to rear suspension

Also ask that factory (OEM) parts be used to repair it. Usually a body shop will do a full inspection standard. If they don't , ask for one. They should do it anyways cause im sure they wouldn't want to be liable for anything after its repaired.

The best advice i could give you is this. Take your dad or boy friend some male with you or better yet let them take it down there. I'm not saying that you will taken advantage of but it possible. Good luck

the repair places that work for those big insurance companies especially geico..will find something wrong with the car..and charge for every cent! my grandmas car got crashed and they paid for scratches not related to the accident.

Sounds like you know more than enough. Just tell them what you just typed. Plus you could also take it somewhere else to get a second opinion before you take it to the shop.

have geico in spect the car after repairs are done

i would a gecko for a repiptial body shop they should do it as for the damage it could have misalined the rear end and yes under carriage is lingo and if its a unibody most likely it is then it SHOULD be ok

tell them what happend what you want done as in fix the damage and paint and the light tell them tou want as little bondo as possable other then that take it to NTB and have them check the alinment on the car they do it for free most of the time

the take a guy that knows or have them take it is a good idea not saying that they would take advantage the could help you ease of mind to make sure your car is taken care of proprtly
