The traffic camera shows, in all, ten cars pass Torres lying on the ground. Two others turn around and go the opposite way, and more witnesses on the sidewalk walk over.

People are scared or just plain animals that's why...That is the most horrific thing I have seen in a while! I, like you never stop being shocked at the sub-human behavior I see every day. I would not be able to drive on with cars rushing at an injured man. I am not sure what I would do, but I would try and help! I Know that you are one of the good guys, just by the way you are reacting to this barbarism.

I agree. It really scares me. It could be one of my loved ones this happens to. People today are so "all about me", it's just become a careless society. I also think, you see so much of this kind of stuff on TV and movies, that it's numbed people from looking at it as real. With everyone carrying a cell phone, there was no reason on this Earth why someone couldn't have helped this man. How horribly sad.

That's the way of the world these days. People think what they are seeing is not true and that somehow that son, and his wounded father were planning a con or something.

Because... that is what some people have done. Pretended to be ill or injured only to carry out a crime against the people who try to help them.

If the people that had tried to help him had caused more injuries, do you think he would have let it slip or would he have sued them? The later is the most obvious answer, America is a sue happy country and that's all there is to it. Everybody is afraid of being sued in America now (I don't live in the US, this is an outside opinion)

I'm a first-aider in the UK, if I see someone injured, I'm trained to help until professional help arrives. We try not to make injuries worse, but if we have to say break a leg to move someone into the recovery position so they don't choke in their own sick and die I will do. The person I helped is going to be happy that they didn't die in their own sick that they won't mind about having a broken leg for six weeks that will heal. In the US the chances of me being sued for breaking someone's leg so they don't choke in their own sick is high.

People aren't being heartless purposefully, they are just afraid of being sued. If you don't know what you're doing, it's safer to leave the injured alone to stop further injuries that won't heal properly than to injure them more. I feel this is probably the only reason people didn't help. The police who helped the poor man must have had basic first aid training and can help properly until an ambulance arrives.

I have heard stories from paramedics of being abused for breaking a rib giving someone CPR to save their life. The paramedic was ALMOST sued for saving someone's life because in the process he broke a rib.

I rest my case.

nobody cares he's old anyways,he might as well have died on the street.
