How can I increase my depth of field.? |
I am using a digital still camera for stop motion animation. I have not got manual focus, see example. There are two ways that you can increase your depth of field. These can be used independently or together depending upon the effect you want. Exposure time has nothing to do with depth of field, it works in inverse with aperture size. A smaller aperture will give you greater depth of field. Longer exposure times = smaller aperture. A smaller aperture is what you want for more depth of field. Note that a larger number means a smaller aperture setting -- the number and the size of the aperture are inversely related. Dig Further. Us a SMALLER aperture (a larger number, like f/16 or f/22) increases the depth of field, use a 50mm lens (not a tele- lens!), or shorter focal length lens, like a 28mm lens, at a smaller aperture and use a tripod! This will increase the exposure time (a longer shutter speed), and any minor camera movement will cause blur. Quite simply. Remember to use the smallest aperture you can. Simply reduce your apiture size : ) obviously you will need to compensate with the length of exposure too. Hope you takle it. |
