Re: saving files as 'jpeg'?

i bought my mother a digital photo frame. the manual says you must have your photos saved as 'jpeg' before the frame can display them. so how do you take pictures off the memory card from your digital camera and save them as jpeg? i hope it isn't a long process!! i very much appreciate detailed answers!! THANKS!

Save the picture from the digital camera onto your computer (each camera is different- consult the manual)

then you open up a photo editing program (depends which one you have) and click "save as", near the bottom of the pop up, you'll see "save as type" click the pull down and select the type of file you want.

If you have microsoft paint for example:

right click the file -> open with paint -> file - "save as"

then youll see "file name" and "save as type". Name it whatever you want under in the box corresponding to "file name", then click on the box corresponding to "save as type" and a list of types will pop up. select one and click save.

All current digital cameras save pictures as jpeg's already. You shouldn't have to change anything. Use the software supplied with the camera to transfer pictures from camera to computer. Then use software supplied by picture frame to transfer from computer to frame.

It depends on what format your camera saves the pictures already. What type of camera do you have? Most cameras already save pictures in jpeg. I would try using your photos as they are.

If that doesn't work, look up what kind of files your camera creates. Your camera manual should tell you. Then search for a converter package. For example, if your camera saves the photos as TIF files, I would search for "TIF to JPG converter".

There are tons of free software tools that convert images from one file format to another. If you can't find one using your favorite search engine, try searching at versiontracker.com.
