when you connect the camcorder to the usb and turn it on do you see a icon show up in the lower right corner near the clock? if not you might have to change modes on the camera to the red camera on...

Either your ISO/ASA is set real high, or your taking pictures indoors with the flash off.

I had the 505si and it was top!!!! if you get an aoto you can use it on manual but if you get a manual that is it + the auto lens fits the DSLR minolta and sony Good Luck

Using the "auto" white balance may or may not work at any given lighting situation ... it is much better to choose the white balance for the actual lighting in the scene you are shooting ...
