When I connect my Fujifilm FinePix camera to the computer, I get a wonky "Pictbridge" message?

So quite recently my camera has decided its fed up with me and is full of rebellion. Whenever I connect it to my PC, via USB, a message on the camera screen tells me: SELECT PICTBRIDGE AT USB MODE SETTING WHEN PRINTING

So, as I deciphered from its user manual, the camera thinks that its being connected to a printer and wants me to fix the setting so that printer thinks its connected by USB. HOWEVER, I'm not at all connecting it to a printer and this is all very grr! I would like it to display all prettily on my computer removable devices, or whatever.

The normal protocol for camera to computer linkage is supposed to be that as I connect it, a message on the camera comes up and delightfully says "Connect to PC?" where I delightfully click "OK" Just before this whole problemo, the camera itself mysteriously reset all its settings (Time, Date, etc...) So I had to fix all that up again. Does it relate to its sudden computer connection angst?
And yes, I've tried using different USB port

When I connect it to the computer, I don't get any slight sign that the computer even ACKNOWLEDGES the camera. No new wizard, no new devices.

Man oh.man, your camera does hate you.

Buy an inexpensive card reader and use it as a removable drive and then copy the image files from your card to your computer.

The date, time issue is what concerns me. Call Fujifilm's help line and see what they say.

If your camera is less than a year old it is under warranty.
