Buying a digital camera, what is MP, 3x optical zoom? And more..?

Hi i am looking at digital cameras and need to know what each of these mean and what they do and other details about them.
鈥?Digital Camera Compatible with Secure Digital Memory Card
鈥?6.0MP for Clear Cropping
鈥?2.5" LCD Screen
鈥?3x Optical Zoom for Snapshots and Vacation Photos; 4x Digital Zoom for Minor Cropping
鈥?Shooting Modes: Manual, Auto; 16MB Internal Memory Storage Capacity
鈥?Features Digital Red-Eye Reduction, Advanced Shake Reduction, Face Detection Technology

I copied this from a camera i am looking at but i mean in general what they mean. I am will be taking a lot of action and moving shots. So what....thing do you want in a camera that means it does well with action shots.

Thanks

MP means how many pixels are in the photo if it's a 6 mp so it has a 6 million pixel in the photo and the 3x optical zoom it means it make it zoom up to 3 times closer to the subject and it want be blurry if you zoom in the optical zoom but it will be blurry if you zoom in to the digital zoom and from the features and the camera mode i can say it's canon or a nikon or a sony cyber-shot
and for the action shots i think you should put it in the sport mode or put it in the manual mode and have to select a high shutter speed and a high aperture but this will be hard so just put it on the sport mode

and if you ask me what is the best camera for this kind i will say it's the sony cyber-shot DSC-W50

for me i use a big SLR camera which the best for action shots
and in the slr cameras i have the Nikon d40 which is good for the x-games and the Nikon d80 which is very good for fashion photography and the canon 400d which is the best landscape

You forgot to include the camera brand and model...which can make a lot of difference to how the camera performs and how it produces images. Some are much better than others and some are quite poor in performance and/or image quality.

But, 6MP is more than enough for most people. And, optical zoom is how much the camera lens can zoom in or 'get a closer view'. 3x is fairly standard in a compact camera. More is a bonus. Don't worry about digital zoom. It's inferior to optical zoom and should not generally be used.

Internal memory is mostly useless because it only allows around 10 images or less to be saved. You will need to buy an SD memory card (1-2GB) which will allow plenty of room for images and/or movies.

To shoot action or moving shots with a compact digital camera, make sure it has an adjustable shutter speed or scene modes which allow you to capture action or sports. Most cameras have a dedicated scene mode button such as 'Sports' or 'Action'.

MP means Mega Pixels. Mega means million. so if its 6MP theres 6 million pixels. basically bigger doesnt mean better. all it means in a larger image. the pictures will be twice the size of your computer display (depending on your screen resolution) 6MP is a nice size

2.5 LCD screen. thats the size of the screen on the camera that will show you your pictures and movies.

and 3x optical zoom is just that. the lense can zoom 3x as far as it can normally see.

all the other stuff it lists are all basic things that all cameras have. nothing reallyspecial there.

the best cameras made are Nikon. thats the creme of the crop for cameras. also Canon makes a really nice camera.

if you go with Nikon or Canon, and you are going to take a lot of action shots than anything either company makes at about @150+ are really nice cameras. below that price range are average cameras.

heres 2 real nice cameras to consider
