Does altitude affect photographic film? |
we're going to colorado this summer and i was considering taking a little manual camera along with my digital one. could going to and from different altitudes (i live in texas) somehow damage the film? Altitude does not effect photographic film, the only thing that effects photographic film is light/heat/chemicals. At high altitudes, the film is subject to more radiation, just like any other object. The atmosphere shields us from these harmful cosmic rays. The higher you go, the less the atmosphere protects you. But the effect is not instant. So you would be unlikely to see any deterioration immediately. |
