I use Photoshop, MS Office, database softwares like Filemaker, Pagemaker, some home video editing, some games (not the heavy ones like some diehard gamers do), surf the internet for about 6-8 hours, download pictures, music and video. So which should I buy a Mac or a PC; a desktop or a laptop? WHY?
I have other considerations besides the OS (I've had experience with both Mac OS and Windows) like hardware durability, compatibility with external devices like handycam, digital camera, mp3 players, etc.
Please suggest a specific brand and model. Macs are great I tell you.
I have been using Mac for more than 12 years now. For the last 3 years I've also been using a PC (w/ windows OS) only because of some softwares I like that aren't available for Mac OS. But I would always prefer using a Mac anytime anywhere. One more thing besides the fabulous Mac OS, Mac hardwares are very reliable and durable.
I would recommend any of the new MACs with Intel core duo processors for the applications you are using:
for laptop try the Macbooks:

for desktop try the iMacs:

By Jim Dalrymple
Chances are if you鈥檙e watching highlights from the FIFA World Cup matches on television, you are seeing Apple technology hard at work. Highlights from the world鈥檚 most popular sport are being prepared using multiple Apple products and technologies.
The biggest of the television networks using Apple products is the Host Broadcast Service (HBS), which is a collection of production groups brought together specifically for the 2006 World Cup. From its master control center to the dozens of cameras at each match, the production team is responsible for everything from managing the feeds coming back to the Munich headquarters to quickly delivering highlights to mobile phones within minutes of the action happening on the field. ....
READ MORE HERE: http://www.macworld.com/news/2006/06/22/... i heard from a friend that the mac osx is pretty good, but i still recomend windows xp, cus it is easier to navigate through. if u want a good computer that hardly crashes thats xp, then get alienware, they are the best pcs... (like 3-6 grand a comp though) uhm and u shud get a desktop, cus it usually has better performence, and it has a big monitor attached to it! lol, uhm lets c... well notebooks and desktops rnt really that much different, except in size. motherboards r different a little. uh well macs have less viruses, cus no1 has them, but if everyone gets em, i bet macs will be pieces of crap, so get windows xp alienware, or a dell, with defender pro virus protection, cus defender pro is the best i have ever had! If you are using Microsoft Office (Access) database, and you use this between say your home and work. You shoudl stick with Microsoft O.S./Office combination. There are MANY reasons when using a good bit of database stuff and trying to go from one system to another that outweight just about the rest of problems in total.
Example:, you have a Access database that your boss wants you to build reports or forms for this weekend.
Hope this helps |
