Is this camera any good?

No optical zoom or even spec is a serious shortcoming as it's a sign of very little money spent on the optics and as such I'd highly recommend against it. Won't be better than an average camera phone from the sound of it.

2 x AAA alkaline batteries supplied: that's another sign of it's cheapness: you'll likely pay more on batteries than on the camera and will help create a lot more toxic waste in doing so.

Sounds okay.. but it all depends on the brand. Ive had 3 digital cams. the best is an Olympus.

With the exception of the zoom, yes. It's a fairly excellent camera.

But if you could tell us the actual brand and model of camera, then we could really tell you if it's any good.

P.S. digital zoom is useless.......doesn't it have OPTICAL zoom???

I agree with anon. The lack of an optical zoom effectively means you have no real zoom. And only using two AAA batteries. That camera will likely chew through batteries so fast you will need to carry a bandolier of replacements.

I doubt it. You didn't mention a brand and I donot see any optical zoom. Digital zoom is terrible, so don't count on that for anything. Also, I doubt the "AAA" batteries will last too long.

What do you want to do with this camera???
For a pocket camera this is fine if it is not $$
For action, sports, and range shots it is OK but not great.
