Low End Video Editing Suggestestions...Anyone?

I recedntly purchased a Polaroid Digital Camera that does both stills and video for as long as the memory card will hold them. Although I am thrilled to have this new technology in my life I am concerned about doing some minor editing and customization to my work and being able to burn it to DVD. (I have a DVD-R) I am uncertain as to what kids of hardware/software this requires. I downloaded a freeware video editor to my system, (AVI Tricks Classic) but when I loaded the video clip it just about froze my system. Sadly I am not even sure how to tell what kind of upgrades I may need to make. I am considering purchasing an external hard drive to store video and images so I can spare my system the needed room. Any suggestions for a beginner? Thanks in advance!

Highly suggest you start by using windows movie maker. You can not make a DVD from that program, but it should already be on your computer and it is a great program for beginer editors. Once you are comfortable with this program you can move on to something more complex. This is great because it applies the same principles in every editing software program.

you need a computer that supports a dvd drive in order to burn dvds, this can be pricy though yahoo!! search "external computer dvd drive" this may help.
