Registry cleaners and Google.?

I have recently installed a Reg Cleaner and have successfully improved my computer by removing most of the rubbish I downloaded with great entheusiasm in the first week of buying my computer.( who really wants 10.000 wants to play solitaire ? ) I still have some software and some things on start up which I dont have a clue what they are...I am pretty sure I dont use all the things listed....I am an OAP...using the internet for learning...e-mail for friends and digital camera to play.I keep seeing the same advice ""go to google to check what to save and what to delete"""
Can you fill me in on this please and if possible give me precise instructions in other words instruction for a beginner.You cannot be too simple ..I will not be offended. Thankyou .

The registry is not for novices--a reg(istry) edit is something for the VERY experienced! I know--I messed up a reg edit and my computer became a very expensive paperweight!

If you must do a reg edit, be sure to back it up first.
