Can a CD still work properly if it has a crack in it? |
I just recently bought a digital camera and it came with some software. When I opened up the case one day, it was cracked and scratched. I don't know what happened to it. So, will it still work? Depends on how bad it was, but usually no. I had a cracked DVD (that is, it had a one inch crack from inner circle outwards) and it wouldn't play. No. Probably not. It's optical and needs to "see" the data. You can sometimes repair scratches with a repair kit though. Try it...some times it will some times it won't. It would not, it would start skipping when it reaches that area... no, but just search on the internet for your digital camera and you will find the software you are looking for it has a chance but it will probabaly skip really bad yes I have 2 cds with cracks ad they do work nope More than likely not i think it's done NO! no, it will not work. My friend, it will not work. HEre is the solution though, most software can be downloaded for free. Run a search for your model number. If that does not work, call the customer support hot line, they can tell you wehere to download it or send you a CD replacement. Just tell them what happened. Most of the time though, you can download it. YES IF YOU WANT TO THROW YOUR CAMERA A crack - no. The cd has tiny tiny holes in it, and a laser in the computer goes into those holes, which is the data on that disc. A crack would mean the laser wont beable to read the data because those little holes are probably all messed up in that crack. A scratch probably wouldnd't matter too much. no, im sorry but the lens might also get scratched if u play it I don't think it will work coz the laser bounces off the cracked area try coping on new CD of it works then you will have new CD I saw some of my frnds pour a few drops of water then wipe it with soft cloth so that its absolutely dry, and the cd could be played properly. But i dont think it could work if the cd has many many cracks and is totally devastated. Did you attempt to try putting the CD in the computer? Most likely it won't work. Your best bet is to get a hold of the manufacturer, or download their software from their web site. The files on the net are usually the most recent. |
