How do I fix my black and white picture?

I like black and white pictures, but my friend was showing me some pictures that she took. Her pictures were black and white but certain colors stood out. Like the color of her eyes or in one the color red stuck out in her shirt and her lips. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to do this without having to buy the photoshop software. Or can I even do this on my own picture software that came with my digital camera?

I don't know of any standard software that could fix it. If it's a very important picture, you may be better off if you take it somewhere. I don't know if this is true or not, but I heard that Walgreen's actually can do touch ups on it cheaply. If you want it to be totally black and white, you should be able to use your software.

I'm not sure of what your question is, but if i understand what you're saying, you need something to help make the whole picture a B&W scale or a way to reduce shadows/highlights

I took a class on software and we used a variety of software to do different things from expensive to free.

We used Paintshop Pro which was amazing but will run you a couple hundreds for a basic version, but most of us still use Photofiltre.

It's free, and does alot. And it's very user friendly.

I am so sorry that no one seems to be understanding your question. I know what you are asking. You want to have a black and white photo of a person or object but you want some of the elements in the picture to be in color, just like you described your friend's photo.

Most photo software does have a paint option where you can choose a color and choose a brush tip size or a spray tip option and then you put your cursor over the spot and start painting.Photofilter will allow you to do this. When you get it downloaded you will open your picture and then the tool bar on the right vertical side will show a spray paint tool and you can choose your color. Here is the important thing though. You will need to go down to the Pressure gauge just below all that and set it low so you can control how much paint saturation you use with each spray. Good luck and have loads of fun.

Other options are to take the photo in color to begin with and then make a copy, turn it into grayscale and then go back to you color copy, lasso the color parts and paste them over the black and white parts of the grayscale photo. But, like you mentioned that takes certain software.
