I like a clean TaskBar with only a few necessary items running, How do I get rid of some unnecessary icons?

I have my Yahoo! Messenger Icon (want), I have my HotSync Icon (want), I have my AVG Icon (want), I have QuickTime & Realplayer Icon (don't want), I have Sony Software for Digital Camera Icons (don't want)

Go to the "START" menu and click on the "RUN" In the open field, type "msconfig" Here you will enter the System Configuration Utility. Click on the last tab that reads "Startup" and here you can select and deselect what you want to start up automatically when you start your PC :)

go to control panel find quicktime icon and open it and take check out of quicktime system tray icon. real player i dont have but right click on it and go to options or preferences and find the setting in there to disable it on startup or something that says something like that.

I would suggest not using the msconfig command since it is intended for temporarly disabling these programs for troubleshooting purposes!! The proper way is to go into the settings of the software that you do not want to start on boot and disable it within the software. You dont want to make a mess out of your system

right click on the the taskbar menu and them scroll down or click and cutomize from there.
if you still arent able to...right click on the name of hte icon itsself and press delete.

Delete Some Of Them
