,

First the answer is NO you dont have to have a digital camera to do this . But you will either need to have film prints on a disk so you can download them to your Pc or a scanner. If you dont own a digi cam then to purchase one is up to you and what you are looking for . $ or preformance. Kodak has some very nice easy share cameras that are very nice and easy to use and fairly low cost. If you dont own a camera and you purchase one then it will come with a mannual witht he software to download to your PC for uploading your pics from your camera to your PC. It comes with the USB cable as well and instructions. If you have a digi cam and dont have instructions and dont have the USB cable to upload your pics then you need to find the company online and search under assoceries and purchase the usb cable and on most home sites they have free download of the software you will need depending on the camera you have or want to purchase. The steps are not that many first you make sure you have a upload program for your camera then you place your USB cable to the back of your PC tower and then makeing sure your camera is off place the other end of the USB into your camera slot. Then turn your camera on . It will prompt you to transfer the pics you want or just view them. Once you done all that it will prompt you to save what you uploaded. Done ! There are many Free websites such as www.freewebs.com,FlickR,snapfish,Kodak,p... I could go on and on but find one you like and easy to set up and then it will walk you threw the upload steps as they all have different steps to follow.

The manual will answer most of your questions.

To host your image go to Photobucket.com and register for a free account. They will walk you through the steps there.

There are many. But bfor that pls b assured if u are uploading anyones' or ur personal pics,....once u have submitted it to web(even loaded on ur own website,)u have no further control over the future usage and circulation of that picture.Any one wd b able to easily copy those and use those pics in whatever way he wants!
but dont loose heart..if the images are not personal but those are of nature/or other scenes u can send them to too many sites available free.
and google also provides a fantastic platform for photographers, giving a photo editing software *** an inbuilt system (available here http://angle-mine.blogspot.com "photosoftware from google,PICASA" )to edit /upload ur photo work to a website, and the google search also makes it popular too.
OTHER GOOD SITES ARE
flickr.com
totallyphotos.com
istockphotos.com
etc

you need to read the manual for your camera. But theres a cord that came with your camera and you take that cord and plug it into your computer where the funny little design is the one that has an arrow in it and little lines coming out of it. and also plug it into your camera. then you upload the pictures to your computer. and most likly the site you want to upload the pictures to will have an option to do so. so you click browse and find the pictures you just uploaded.
like i said, the manual will help you the best.

Read Blackheart's comment above and then, once you have connected to your PC and can download to your screen, try a VERY simple and FAST photo edit programme that is a free download - from www.photofiltre.com.
Once you have that, play with your own pics for a while
THEN
go to www.les-plus-simples.com - which is a small but enthusiastic photo-crit website that WILL react to your sharing and WILL help you to improve techniques.
I guarantee it.
