Is there ANY possible way to get data off a DVD what hasn't been finalized yet w/o the original camera? |
My digital camera that records video to DVDs met the pavement, and I NEED the video off the disk it had recoded on. The camera was off when it fell, so I doubt it is corrupted or anything, just not finalized so my computer won't read it. Is there ANY kind of software I can download to be able to read it? Or can I get another camera of the same model that works and finalize the disk in it? Please this footage is worth so much to me. The copying and reburning would work, except for how the camera records the data. When you insert the disk into any computer it comes up with a CD with 0 free bytes and 0 used bytes. In essence, a dummy disk. The camera doesn't record it in such a language or code that anything else can understand apparently, so I'm hoping it will work with another Sony Handycam when I look for one today. If you have a computer, Nero and some hard drive, you can copy all your files to your hard drive and then reburn using any DVD burning software (such as Nero). You should be able to finalize the disk using the same model camcorder - you might even be able to walk into a store like Best Buy and just use the display model. If that isn't an option, you can get the data off the disk by putting the disk in your computer and copying the files over to your hard drive. |
