My CompactFlash Memory Card/Microdrive(?) is not working, and neither is my camera via USB. Please help.?

Okay. The thing is, the card loads my pictures, okay? So the pictures are on there. But when I put it in the CF/Microdrive slot on the front of my Window's XP, the green light that says it has been read doesn't come on any more.

And with my camera, the battery's basically dead. The other day it was still dying, but I got it to work. The thing is, I charged it up and it won't really charge. But I can use it and it will have a green light. It's an old digital camera, and it's rather bulky. It's a KODAK DX3500 Digital Camera. I have the software on my computer, but it still won't register anything while I have it charging up and hooked up to the computer.

The battery won't charge, so I'll probably have to buy a new battery.

Just buy a cheap usb reader and download the card or buy a camera battery and usb cable the connection to download. You can also just use the power cable that came with the camera to turn on the camera.

There could be a multitude of issues relelating to the internal card reader. Your drivers could be corrupted, the hardware might not be seated, the OS might have just decided to stop recognizing the usb or pci card, etc, etc, etc. I have had all the above mentioned occur.

If you shoot anything with a digital camera the first rule of thumb is to have a second battery. Digital cams suck the life out of the batteries like water in the desert.

Your camera should have come with a cable to connect to your computer and an AC adapter to allow the camers to work without batteries. Try connecting the camera to the adapter and using the cable. This should allow you to recover your pictures.
