How can I transfer recorded movie from Digital Video Camera Sony DCR-PC5E to computer?

I tried to transfer recorded movies from my sony camera DCR-PC5E to computer, but I couldn't find any way to do so. There is a software with it name "picture gear 4.1" which is used just for photos.
Is there any way to transfer the records on tapes from this camera to computer and if yes, how. Shall I use any special software?
Thank you ...

Depending on the model and the features available in that model, here are a few things that you can do to achieve your objective:
1 -- If you have firewire port in your camcorder, get a firewire card installed in your PC and then using the s/w provided with the camcorder, transfer the video onto the pc.
2 -- If your camcorder supports USB streaming, then you can you the USB port on your PC to get the video transfered onto your PC.
3 -- If your PC has a TV tuner card, give the digital o/p of your camcorder to this tuner card and then get the video transfered onto your PC.

Thank you for your answer. It helped me a lot. Report It

you could try downloading the software and drivers fromthe sony web site. you will have to get a video editor/studio software to transfer the video files, record them to the computer and then transfer them to a dvd or cd if you want to.

i use ulead video studio 10 it's pretty easy to use, but you have to have the drivers for your camera installed.

the software to record and transfer the video is usually with the camera's installation cd's.

I use Pinacle Studio 9. It's easy to download and edit movies, I have a canon movie camera. With Studio 9, you can download your camera using a firewire (not a usb cord, but similar). You also need a firewire plug on your computer. Check the back of your computer by the usb ports and the firewire port is a little different shape. You can edit, add music etc. I really like this program.
I also have the Dazzle, wich lets me download old VHS home movies using the same program.

You have to buy a video capture divice USB in any computer store or electronics sales and then you connect it to the usb port on your computer then in the divice you connect the 3 cables: yellow , red and white on it.
the divice would cost you like 50 dollars no more and the mayority of divice bring it own program to edit , then you press (capture) and then press play in your camera and it will record it on you computer .
The USB cable that the camera brings is only for pictures .
The one that I telling you is for video capture.

I hope this can help you .
Have a great day !
