How do I get pictures off my digital camera with an external memory card reader?

It doesnt seem to be able to open them.... is there a specific software or way I should go about this?

did you put the card in the right way ?

depends on your camera andreader and PC

typically the reader can open card files similar to the way your PC reads files on a CD, you may have to read the owners manuals for your devices, as no answer will cover allpossible situations

I am assuming that you either don't have a USB port or didn't try to connect it to your camera. if you do have a USB port and it works that could be an easier option for you to transfer files to your PC. new PCs with integrated card readers will open up a window that prompts downloading as soon as the card is put in the reader.

Use your file manager and once you have copied them to your computer, use the manager to open up the files for viewing. To do any digital darkroom work on them, use the program that came with your camera or buy something like Photoshop Elements (under $100).
