It plays to windows media player by default so if you could answer the question based on that software it'd be nice. You need a piece of software called a "frame grabber." This will allow you to grab a still image from a video.
With Windows, the system uses DirectX to play video, and simply copying a window won't work; all you get is a blank screen when the player is closed down.
Thus, you need third-party software that uses DirectX to do the frame grab.

Something else to consider: You may already have a third party player other than Windows Media Player on your computer, such as DVD playback softare. Those players sometimes include a still image capture button (it'll typically look like a camera) so before spending money, try looking at what you already have. A couple of cameras have it built in. Otherwise, you'll have to do what Anthony said. |
