What would be a good digital camera for me?

My requirements are:

1. Good quality
2. Something that records good quality videos as well
3. The software is compatible with Windows Vista
4. Something not too expensive (somewhere between $300-$400)
5. Something that's (fairly) easy to use

Basically, I'm just looking for something my friends and I can have fun with. Please help me out!!

No need to spend $300 to $400. READ up on what's important to you. Check out features at you local library of Nov'07 Consumer Reports. Do you want a camera very good on battery life, only 1 second delay between shots, maybe an image stabilizer, possibly lots of zoom and bottom line has excellent photo quality.
You say good quality, not too expensive...those are very generic questions. Check out Website dpreview.com
After some reading you should know just about what's important to you in selecting a camera.

what do you mean good quality videos. canon G9 has 1024x768 video. is it good enough?
