What digital camera do you recommend based on my needs?

I'm working with $350-399 Can. dollars max., though if less then that's a definite plus.

Something with high pixel count, preferrably 7 MP
Optical zoom at least 3X
Image stabilization would be nice
Lithium-ion battery (rechargeable)
LCD screen 2.5 inches
Included macro mode
Easy to use menus
Face detection technology - if it's not overly expensive, then sure
Software included like photoshop or something that I can use once I transfer the photos online

These are the features I can recall at the moment, but I'm open to other features as well. Thanks!!

I am a fan of anything Fuji - I have always regretted getting anything else.

The sony cyber shot is a good camera dscw55 check them out here http://www.monstermall.org/BestDealsCame... cool colors

You have all the necessary criteria now you have to match them to a camera. Just add that the camera uses a SD memory card and you will be set

My daughter just bought a new Kodak EasyShare with 7.1 pixels. I think she paid around $130 for it. I was surprised to see that it takes really nice pictures. The only thing I'm not sure it has that you're requesting is the face detection.

Seems like I've been recommending this camera lately: The Canon A570 IS, which has the image stabilization. You'll have to get rechargeable AAs, but other than that, it has the other features: 4x zoom, 7 mp, 2.5" screen, etc. No face detection though.

Price is $171 american dollars at buydig.com, a decent store.

In Canada, it's 299.99 at http://www.henrys.com

Good luck!

Fuji Finepix S700 / S5700 pretty much fits that description I believe (I recently bought it's bigger brother, the S6000fd/S6500fd).......uses AA batteries.... either disposables or NiMH rechargables (which are available in every increasingly higher capacities which last longer and more versatile than proprietary batteries).

Please look at the new Canon Powershot SD850-IS. This is a very versatile camera. It has a nice workable zoom range that will take you from broad scenics to decent telephoto views. Look at some sample images from the reviews on the SD700-IS to get the idea what this lens will cover. It has image stabilization, which really works. It is small enough to fit into a shirt pocket. It has a rechargeable battery that is good for 200-250 shots, depending on how much zooming and viewing you do or on how many shots use the flash. A spare battery is 1戮"x1录"x录" and the charger is barely twice that size, so carrying the spare is easy and packing the charger is easy. It has an optical viewfinder which can be useful when the sun is too bright to see the image on your LCD monitor. I could go on, but you can read some reviews and see what the pro's say.

If you know how to read these charts, you can also go here and see what the changes are.

Click on "Read Owner Opinions," which are mini-reviews by buyers. You can also read the full review on the SD700-IS by clicking on that option.

The upgrades for the SD850-IS are:
Canon Digic III image processor instead of Digic II
8 MP instead of 6 MP
Maximum ISO 1600 instead of ISO 800
Accepts up to 4 GB memory card instead of 2 GB
LCD monitor has better image
Face detection

I listed these in the order of importance, in my opinion. The first two are the ones that really count the most and the rest are just gravy.
