Can you use a vivitar mini digital camera as a webcam?

if so how? on the software there is something called "PC Camera Mode" isnt that a webcam? When i clickon it all i see is a big black square

Same black square problem, although i have been able to set the USB mini cam as the vid source for YIM. So, I think it should be able to function as web cam.
