Can I still use a digital camera without the contents in the box?

I have a digital camera on clearance at my job, but its without it's box nor its contents. I was wondering whether or not it will be operative(transfer pics on my cpu) without the CD software and usb cord.

Save the photos to a removable memory card and spend $20 for a card reader. This way no additional software is necessary. This is not only faster, but it saves your camera batteries. Your computer or printer may even have a card reader built into it. I have enough USB ports that I just leave it plugged in all the time.

First of all, be sure there are some pictures on the card. Plug the card reader into an open USB port. Plug the card into the appropriate slot on your card reader. I use Photoshop Elements and as soon as I plug my card into the reader, it starts its own card reader and displays a thumbnail of every picture on the card.

If this does not happen automatically, open your photo editing software. Do whatever you usually do to open a file, but click on the selector where you can change drives. Your card reader will be assigned a new drive name that will be one letter higher than you ever saw before, such as "Drive G:" or such. Then, just double click on the name of the file you want to open and it will appear in your photo editor.

You should be able to download the S/W from the Mfg website and purchase a USB cable too.

You can buy another cable, they are cheap. Its probably a micro USB. Take the camera to any store that sells cables and they should be able to sell you one.

If you are running WIndows XP it will probably see it as another drive. Very few cameras need the extra software that comes with them to download and view images.

I've never looked at the books or CD that came with my cameras. However, the USB cord is what gets the pictures from the camera onto your computer. There are other ways though, including getting another USB cord that's the right size, getting a camera dock to upload through, using the computers available sometimes at photo places/CVS/Walmart that allow you to put the memory stick/disk right into it to upload for printing/CD.
