How to copy videos from digital camera to dvd?

I have many videos on my computer from my digital camera and I know how to copy videos and pics to a CD-RW but I want to be able to watch them on my tv using my dvd player, but everytime i insert a blank "Memorex DVD+R" it doesnt work. Do i need special software?

Several things need to be confirmed:
1. Make sure you have a DVD writer in your computer. Some computers ship with a DVD reader for watching movies and a CD writer, but will not write to a DVD. Fortunately DVD writers can be had for around $50.
2. If you want to write to a DVD in a format your TV dvd player will read, you need to buy software that will handle it. Movie maker in Windows will make an MPEG file on your computer, or a WMA file, but your DVD player will not likely handle those.
