Digital Camera Product Feature Idea.?

I've used many digital cameras over the years, and I've always thought there should be a better way to name/label the images. With technology where it is, I think I have an idea.

What about if there were a mini recorder built into the camera. You could take your shot, then hit a "memo" button and append a sound byte that describes the photo. Heck, software on the PC side could even use speach recognition to attempt auto labeling the assosciated photos.

Or does this sould like just another useless feature to you?

The higher end Nikons do this exact thing. My Nikon D2X has a button on the back of the camera when pressed will record a WAV file and attaches it to the .jpg file. This is great for sports shooters when the players only have numbers on the back. They shoot the images...watch as the players run back up filed and then record the ID's in the frame. A small music note symbol is displayed in the corner of the image to identify it as having a sound tag. It can record a sound bite up to 1 minute long. I've used the feature to record interviews for web site applications.

I'm sure that the feature will some day works it way down to the consumer level cameras.

I like it. I must have a thousand pictures on my computer labeled 1 through (you guessed it) 1000. This feature would help a lot.

I have seen something similar on a camera, but the audio clips weren't actually attached to the pics. you had to match them up later.
