How do I get digital pictures on my computer if I borrow someone else's camera? Do I need their software? Most cameras will show up as a removable mass storage device. It should map as another drive letter when connected (assuming Microsoft Windows for your operating system). Just use their USB cable and the OS should recognize the device. Open up Windows Explorer and locate the drive mapped to the device. Look through the directory structure (each vendor is a little difference) and locate the picture files. You can then copy these to a directory on your hard drive. Not if you have WIndows XP or higher. For the most part, yes. If you have a card reader on your computer or have a "universal card reader", you can transfer what is on the card to your computer. No u do not need the software I agree with fhotoace. Just get a card reader. You can buy various kinds of card readers to accomodate many different memory cards pretty much anywhere that they sell digital cameras. Even WalMart has decent card readers by the major manufacturers. |
