I am looking to buy a digital camera to use with my old computer?

my computer is a hp pavillion 8630 with a 500mhz intel celaron prosessor. My budget is about 50 quid im looking to get one second hand and am looking for a good software package for windows 98. I dont want to shell out for a camera and software that my old computer struggles to keep up with as its slow at the best of times. Thank you for taking the time.

The only thing to watch when "matching" your computer to the camera is how you are going to upload the images. I doubt that your computer has a card reader but if it has a USB port then you can upload via that. Make sure that the camera comes with a USB lead or that you can source one if necessary.

Your biggest problem is going to be the ability of your machine to process the images. It will store and display them all right but you need to think about its ability to use the more advanced features of a photo editor. Forget the software that comes with the camera - it's usually crap. Look around in bargain buckets for something better. For some years now, I have been using a copy of Picture Publisher which came as a magazine freebie. It is packed with features, many of which I haven't used and I consider my self to be a serious photographer. If I remember rightly, I was running it it on Windows 95!

You don't want to do all that.

What you want to do is to unplug your computer, put it on your shoulder and take it out with you.

When you see something you want to photograph, press the little button that makes the drawer go in and out.

Not many people realise that this will take a photo - but it does.

You had better look for a camera that its software will work with 98!
Most now are XP minimum spec.
