Is it necessary to use the Kodak EasyShare software to upload pictures from the camera?

Ok I am having problems with this digital camera I have which is a Kodak EasyShare. I haven't used the camera and the software and years and I am not able to install the Easy Share software to my computer by using the CD nor by downloading it online.

The CD has version 3.1 and when I put the CD on the computer and try to Install it nothing happens. It gets stuck doesn't matter how much I try.

I am trying to download the exact version and the 6.0 version from the Kodak website and I am also having problems, I can't execute the installation file, it gets stuck too.

It just happening with my Kodak software because I am not having any problems with the other programs.

Is it possible to use another software that can detect my Kodak Easy Share CX6330 to transfer my pictures, or is it only with the cd that came with it?

I prefer not to use any of the proprietary software that comes with my peripherals.
To get your photos, connect your camera to your pc via USB connection & open & save the files as jpegs. Then, open the files using Windows Media Player, or Picture and Fax Viewer or whatever picture viewer already installed on your pc.

We have a kodak easyshare digiatl camera. My husband uses a different program to put the pictures on the computer because our software is messing up also. I cannot remember the program, but I will ask him and let you know what it is.

If your camera has the USB port, just plug it into the computer. Make sure it is in the UPLOAD position, not the ON. (Meaning, the button you move to make it on to take pictures, turn it the opposite way.)

The computer should have a pop-up asking you how you want to proceed with the new device plugged-in. Try all of the options that the computer gives you to see which one works.
