What pc software should i get to make movies (edit, add soundtrack etc) from digital camera/camcorder footage?

If your a novice and your using windows XP, you can use the free movie making software that comes installed. Its not the best but if gives you an understanding about the basic concept of video editing, understanding that you need to hook your Video camera to your computer and record the video there and then concepts such as scenes, transitions, basic special effects and how to export the final edited version to either back to tape, cd or as a file.

If your want to pay a little money, my fav is Pinnacle studio 10, its so simple but that does nt mean it lack any features. There so many transitions included, you can create title windows and those smart dvd menus and also add music. I think its less than 100 pounds.

Finally, if you have like 500-600 pounds, you purchase adobe premier pro 2. this is very proffessional bit of kit and you can do some cool effects but not worth purchasing if you say plan to only edit home movies e.g. weddings, birthdays.

There's - Sony Acid 6, Apple Soundtrack, Mini Movie Maker, Fusion Dynamics (for Pro's)....Theres loads, chack the shopping internet sites. Hope I Helped!

there are many softwares available to do this. some of which I can advise you are:
1. Movie Maker (already present in Windows XP )
2. Ulead Movie Factory
3. Cool 3D
4. Video Studio

these are the ones I can remember right now....but I'm sure there are pretty more....I would suggest you begin with the Movie Maker as it is already present in Windows Xp.

Looks like you already have a couple of answers to your question, but there is question about the type of hardware you have on your system. Your hardware determines just how well your software choice will run on your computer. Hope this helps.
